“There is work that needs to be done. There are workers who are ready to do it.” ~POTUS

The President on Investing in InfrastructureToday, President Obama called for Congress to approve a plan to begin upgrading our nation’s deteriorating infrastructure. This plan – with its $50 billion price tag – would not cover the $2.2 trillion needed to address the deficiencies identified by the American Society of Civil Engineers infrastructure report card. But, it would jump-start the rebuilding process.

The plan to upgrade our nation’s infrastructure was previously announced by the POTUS on Labor Day, but it is still unclear if the plan will be able to overcome the apparent Congressional stalemate in Washington.

TBD on how much – if any – of these funds will be applied to upgrading the nation’s electric grid.

The electric grid sure could use some attention. It will be great when an investment in the “smart grid” means something more upstream than new meters. I’ll keep an eye on it, to be sure! (Though, I know the roads and bridges need some attention as well…)

Agreed… AMI is good, but definitely not the fix-all
